Lily Allen has released her anti-Trump cover of Rufus Wainwright’s ‘Going To a Town’. Also, the song features a black-and-white music video of the Women’s March in London, and her performance at the protest. The roughly four-minute song repeats the line “I am so tired of America” Allen sings in a serious and melancholy tone.
In addition to Wainwright’s original record, Lily Allen’s anti-Trump compilation featured on her website, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” features songs from artists like Rihanna, R.E.M., The Clash, and LCD Soundsystem. It is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
Since Trump’s inauguration, Allen has been open about her sentiments of the American President. On Twitter, Allen called him a “moron” for his comment about the Brexit vote, and stirred recent controversy with her “homophobic” remark of “F**gs hate Trump,” attached with an LGBT news article.
In light of Prime Minster Theresa May and President Trump meetings in Washington D.C., the singer also posted a tweet writing: “A bad deal is better than no deal”.
The footage was directed by Bafic, and was musically arranged by Mark Ronson
