With the singer-songwriter set to release his new live album ‘Live At ElmwoodHall’ in May, JoshuaBurnside now shares the latest sweeping cut from his forthcoming release with ‘NorthernWinds’.
Following on from the previously shared rendition of ‘TheGoodWord’, this latest offering sees the frontman strip back from his core sound to deliver a far more intimate and emotive showcase of his songwriting. Backed up with an expansive folk ensemble, he croons and serenades his way through this new track, giving the audience a chance to really devour his lyrical prose.
“I didn’t give the new band many instructions about how to play the songs,” Burnside says of his new album.
“Which worked out well because they interpreted things differently and breathed new life into some sections. It feels like more of a collaboration. I can’t control everything whilst performing so I have to just let everyone do their thing. There was a real warmth in the room that night and a sense of community that has coalesced around Quiet Arch. I think everyone felt lifted up by that.”
JoshuaBurnside also appeared at SXSW earlier this year, where he performed a beautiful live session for PasteMagazine. Watch the performance here.
‘Live At Elmwood Hall’ will feature cuts lifted from his Northern Irish Music Prize-winning album, ‘EPHRATA’, as well as EPs ‘Hollllogram’ and ‘AllRoundtheLightSaid’, and will be available from the 24 May via QuietArch. ‘NorthernWinds’ will be released on the 26 April, while ‘TheGoodWord’ is out now.
