JAS CRW is an energetic, afro-urban oriented trio based in Zurich, Switzerland. Known for their powerful live shows and a strong desire for progression, JAS CRW is already celebrating successes all over Switzerland, Germany and even Mozambique. Their live shows are contagious which they have proven to Paléo Festival (230K capacity), Open Air St. Gallen (30K capacity) and even to the European biggest hip-hop festival Open-air Frauenfeld (170K capacity).
Type of Way is the first track from JAS CRW’s forthcoming dancehall orientated EP, releasing in January 2020. Produced by Ketelby James (CH) in collaboration with Meek (DE), Type of Way features Nigerian artist, Dotman, who’s been linked to Mr. Eazi & Davido, adds a unique and soulful African touch; forging new grounds for Swiss music.
Their pilot project The Quest Of The Brave and Ambitious was released in April of 2015. A year later their second project Swervin opened new doors for the trio. They played over 40 shows across Switzerland and Germany. After a two-month music and development experience in London end of 2017, JAS CRW were inspired to develop new sounds and collaborations.
The following year JAS CRW has been invited to Mozambique by Viva con Agua (NGO), to help people in need and produce a documentary movie entitled “Chuva” speaking about the current water issues in Mozambique.
JAS CRW have opened acts for names such as Rae Sremmurd, Schoolboy Q, Wacka Flocka Flame, DAS EFX, Slum Villag, Dead Prez, Afurah and Continental Records.
The trio perfectly represents Switzerland of today: multicultural, creative and ambitious. JAS CRW are ready to expand their sound and give Switzerland a chance to gain a foothold on the international music market.
Vice Switzerland and the local Swiss Friday Magazine have called the trio “Switzerland‘s most promising newcomers”.
Speaking to the motivation behind Type of Way, JAS CRW shares: The Afro influenced beat, produced by JAS CRW’s own Ketelby James and co-produced by Meek emphasises the hot and steamy theme of the track. The parts from JAS CRW were recorded at their home studio in Zürich being planned as a summer release 2019. But After Meek visited the studio and added his touch to the sound, the trio felt like the single has still remained unfinished. They teamed up with Liza Mazur, to connect the missing dots and after long considerations about who could enhance the song with a featuring and take it to another level, Liza got Dotman, an uprising Nigerian artist. And so, the vision was complete. A perfect song to dance away with that one special person.
