Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain says he doesn’t see himself with the band much longer

According to drummer Nicko McBrain in an interview with Classic Rock he’s thought about life after Iron Maiden, and says he really doesn’t want the band to get so old that they ultimately become a parody of themselves.

He stated: “Imagine me trying to play ‘Run to the hills’ at fucking 73 years old”. He went on to say “ideally I’ve got ten more years, nah, don’t see that” he said “I’m planning on bowing out gracefully” he admitted “I’ve got to be honest, the older I get, the harder it is to do this” which makes sense, he’s been playing with Iron Maiden non stop since 1982 and is now 65 years old.

It sucks to think Iron Maiden will eventually bow out, he is the oldest member of the band and has been with them for more than half his life and states “it’s part of his sinew”. but we shouldn’t fear just yet it sounds like they have a few years left.
