Elbow frontman Guy Garvey redefined rock and roll last Sunday evening (7th April 2013) when he appeared on the CBeebies channel to read the final story of the day. The BBC channel is for children under 6 and has, in the past, attracted the likes of David Hasslehoff, Simon Pegg and John Simm.
In his mesmerizing Manchester accent the singer, radio host and producer read Farmer Joe and the Music Show, by Tony Mitton and Guy Parker-Rees. The story tells of a farm where the hens won’t lay and the crops won’t grow. With the help of his instrument playing friends, Farmer Joe soon has the hens clucking, the pigs hoofing, and the cows mooing to a hill-billy music show.
