The Great Escape have announced the initial names and details for their 2016 event, including the first “Spotlight Show” and over 45 others acts destined for the Sussex coast next May.
Taking over Brighton from the 19th – 21st May, the multi-venue event looks to spotlight the very best in new and emerging talent alongside old favourites, and if this year’s initial announcement is anything to go by, it’s set to follow in that vein to a tee.
Notable highlights include the return of pioneering indie stalwarts Mystery Jets, surf-groove kings Beach Baby, the transformative Pumarosa and the adrenaline-fuelled rock of VANT, all destined for huge steps in 2016. They make up a bill full of undiscovered new music talent, who come May will have already become engrained our collective new music psyche.
Taking over from the regular Brighton Dome headline shows is the new “Spotlight Shows” with the first such show announced today, taking place at the magical All Saints Church and headlined by cult blog heroes Oh Wonder, who’ve gone from the darlings of laptops everywhere to part of the furniture on Radio 1 and airwaves across the world.
They’ll be joined for this unique showcase by the love-torn electronica of Shura and Sound Of 2016 member Mura Masa, whose defined productions are set to soundtrack 2016’s scenes of heartbreak and triumph all whilst infecting listeners around the globe.
With a stacked bill of 2016’s best new talent, this ‘Spotlight Show” is one not to be missed, with access to the show available through a separate gig ticket or a reduced top-up price available for Great Escape 2016 wristband holders.
