Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls will headline the opening night of 2000trees 2019, held at Upcote Farm in July.
Turner is a bona-fide veteran of the festival, having played at the first ever edition of the festival back in 2007, and returning numerous times, both solo and with the Sleeping Souls. He headlined for the first time in 2010, played five sets in total in 2013, and appeared as a secret performer in 2016, playing ‘England, Keep My Bones’ in full.
This year will see Turner also play a set with his hard-core side project Mongol Horde, who reunited last year following a near four year hiatus.
“Everyone is welcome, and everyone just loves the music in a totally unpretentious way. In some ways I feel like it’s what I was looking for as a kid, in both metal, punk and hardcore. I’m deeply, deeply in love with it, and happy to be some small part of it. I hope it continues for many years, and that it gathers every July in the hills at Upcote Farm.”
Surrey quintet You Me at Six have also been confirmed as Friday nights headliner. A spokesperson for the band said of the announcement:
“The lineup is always superb, so it’s going to be a pleasure to be a part of things this year. It’s going to be a special show.”
You Me At Six released their sixth album, ‘VI’ last year.
Muncie Girls, Skinny Lister, While She Sleeps, Jamie Lenman, Milk Teeth and Comeback Kid are all among the acts confirmed for 2000trees 2019, with 33 acts confirmed so far across the weekend.
2000trees 2019 will take place from 11-13 July 2019. Many more acts, including the Saturday night headliner, are still to be confirmed.
