All Points East has extended its lineup for the Kraftwerk headline date, plus added a rare solo acoustic set by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.
Tinariwen, Juan Atkins, Warmduscher, A Certain Ratio and Pan Amsterdam have all been announced for Friday May 29, alongside Kraftwerk’s performance at Victoria Park as part of the band’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Also joining Kraftwerk and the new announcements are Iggy Pop, Grandmaster Flash, Johnny Marr and Chromatics.
Meanwhile, Thom Yorke will be playing a stripped-back solo set on May 24 supporting Massive Attack.
Already announced for the special Bank Holiday date are Nils Frahm, Young Fathers, Neneh Cherry and Fatoumata Diawara.
The new lineup releases follow on from February’s headliner announcements of Bombay Bicycle Club on Friday 22 May; The Kooks and The Wombats on Saturday 30 May as part of an indie takeover; and Tame Impala as a UK exclusive on Saturday 23rd May.
The east London festival All Points East takes place in Victoria Park over two weekends of May, that in 2019 was attended by over 200,000 people over the course of six days.
The festival first launched in 2018 with LCD Soundsystem, The xx and Bjork, and has since established itself as part of the UK festival scene, along with community activities through the week known as ‘In The Neighbourhood’.
All Points East continue to work each year with local charity the Tower Project to give volunteer opportunities to young people with learning disabilities and autism on site at the festival, as well as providing education and performance opportunities to the students of nearby ELAM arts and music school. Committing to 100% renewable energy, working towards eliminating single-use plastic from all serve ware and programming up cycling workshops for children during In The Neighbourhood are further examples of the commitment to the local community and the park.
