NOS Primavera Sound
As always at Europe’s top summer festival, there’s some difficult clashes. That means festival goers will have tricky choices to make – or some serious running ahead of them.
One of the most difficult choices will be between Friday evening’s jam packed schedule. Indie rock band and headliners The National will be on the Mango stage, overlapping the exact times as post-rock legends Mogwai. Not just that, but they’re playing the same time as the unconventionally post-hardcore Shellac and the 8-piece pop collective Superorganism.
But that’s not all. On Thursday the headliners Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are crossing over with Sylvan Esso, Fever Ray and the start of Vince Staples. And this is just after the run between headliners The War on Drugs and Unknown Mortal Orchestra – who are also sharing what is due to be an emotive tribute by Echo Collective and guests to Johann Johannson, who was on the original line up for Primavera Sound.
Saturday doesn’t offer any easy alternatives either, with Lorde and Grizzly Bear sharing the same coveted headline time slot. One thing’s for certain – Primavera Sound has excelled itself yet again for another year running, with hours and hours of music ahead. You might just have to go to NOS Primavera Sound, held in Porto the week after, to make up for missing some of these acts. That will solve the Mogwai and the National clash at least.
