A mere five years since its conception in 2012, Gibraltar Music Festival is already developing a reputation as one of the most exciting new music festivals in Europe. Taking place on the 3rd and 4th of September in the Victoria Stadium, 2016 sees not only a stellar line-up, but the introduction of three new stages: comedy, acoustic and dance stages.
Gibraltar is a breathtakingly beautiful location. From the magnificent Rock of Gibraltar dominating the sky, to the semi-wild Barbary Macaques wandering the streets, the stunning surroundings need a line-up to match.
Celebrating their 20th year in the industry, Welsh rock giants Stereophonics are one of the headline acts at this year’s festival, bringing their unique brand of post-britpop to Gibraltar’s biggest stage. With an incredible catalogue of hits, a plethora of awards, and a new album, this is guaranteed to be a truly spectacular set. Joining the rockers is R&B legend Ne-Yo, in his only British performance of the summer. From singing to song writing, he is the epitome of modern R&B. His career has included three GRAMMY award wins, three No. 1 albums, and over 10 million albums sold worldwide.
However, the line-up doesn’t end there. With acts including Glaswegian indie rockers Travis, electro-pop songstress Zara Larsson, rock royalty Bryan Ferry, pop boy-band The Vamps, and even Swedish rockers Europe, the eclectic mix of bands means that there is truly something for everyone, in what is set to be the festival’s biggest line-up to date.
