ELOI shares strong debut ‘Frenemies’

ELOI is an artist of many talents: a singer, songwriter, producer and classically trained pianist, blending electronica, alternative, pop and R&B. This year, ELOI has secured a residency at the prestigious Roundhouse in Camden and has performances there on 16th and 19th October. She has already performed at venues including Lyric Hammersmith, Royal Court Theatre and Ronnie Scott’s, and her aim is singular; to make truly original pop music.

ELOI is set to reveal her debut single Frenemies, which is a dark, tongue-in-cheek ditty about the abuse of trust. She draws on past experiences of toxic relationships, particularly in childhood, to paint an enticing, yet elusive picture of a two-faced menace. The synth-heavy, R&B tinged soundscape echoes notes from the likes of BANKS, FKA Twigs and Billie Eilish.

Her following single ‘Vertigo’ will be released in October and featured on the Roundhouse ‘Rising Sounds’ album, followed by an EP release at the end of this year.

Speaking to the motivation behind Frenemies, ELOI shares:
Frenemies is inspired by a close, toxic relationship I had growing up. After a particularly bad experience where I was left wondering who that person really is, I started writing the song from their perspective. I also was inspired by the fact that I think most people have been in situations where they pretended to like someone for an easy life, so I wanted to poke fun at it. I wanted the production to be dark, otherworldly and a bit tongue in cheek like a Tim Burton film.
