American hard rockers Devilstrip are to release their debut album to the UK, an album that may herald the start of a breakthrough year for the band, and one that seeks to enable the Ohio based three-piece to enter the UK and European consciousness.
The aptly named album, ‘Rise,’ has already had a measure of success after its American release, its arrival to the UK coming after a successful spell for Devilstrip, the band having recently supported Steel Panther, and made an appearance on American television.
Frontman Marc Wasmund, bassist Graig Lindgren and drummer Jimmy Gray come across as seasoned professionals, with a polished sound. Songs such as the punchy ‘Go’ and fast paced ‘Kill the Headlights (Roll)’ are sure to keep UK audiences entertained, and it is easy to hear the many musical inspirations of the band. The website Reverbnation suggests that Devilstrip are reminiscent of “Black Stone Cherry, Sixx:A.M., Foo Fighters, Chevelle and LIVE,” giving many listeners an instant feeling of familiarity.
Devilstrip show great promise, and their musical skill and sound that draws upon techniques and styles found in many successful bands makes the UK release of ‘Rise’ an exciting prospect, and makes the American trio one to watch for 2016.
‘Rise’ is released in the UK January 22nd, via CD Baby (self-released)
