Ed Sheeran fans will be sad to hear the artist has announced he is quitting Twitter. Sheeran, who is 26-years-old will no longer be active on the social media platform due to seeing rude and pessimistic comments about himself from trolls.
The singer-songwriter currently has just over 19-million followers on Twitter. Sheeran’s Twitter account will remain active for fans, however, it will just be automatic updates from his Instagram page being shared.

This is not the first time the star has taken a break from social media, although, for a slightly different reason. In 2016, before releasing his recent album ‘Divide’, Sheeran disappeared for the year to travel. He admitted that when on tour he never gets to see much of the place he’s in, besides from behind a screen, so he took the year to explore places in-depth without technology.
Additionally, at the beginning of 2017 Sheeran on multiple talk shows, including Ellen, shared he got rid of his cellphone due to feeling stressed with all the messages and emails he would constantly wake up to. Since ditching his cellphone Sheeran now handles all of his business with an IPad.
Sheeran is currently on tour promoting the ‘Divide’ album making stops in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. The tour will continue into 2018.
