Dana Gavanski Offers Her Take on Chic’s “At Last I Am Free”

The ethereal tones of Serbian-Canadian musician Dana Gavanski can stir a breeze and destroy like a storm. With her new covers EP, Wind Songs, Dana complements her debut album (Yesterday Is Gone) from her temporary new home in London across both sides of enforced isolation, to show an artist making the best of unfortunate circumstances and seeking comfort in the familiar strangers of her musical heroes.

“At Last I Am Free,” the newest single to be shared off of Wind Songs, was written by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers and originally sung by Chic. Having just recently discovered the song’s brilliance, Dana was blown away by Robert Wyatt’s superb cover – his soft and gentle mellotron flute that pushes “At Last I Am Free” along coupled with his shrill, wizardly voice.
