First there was SXSW. Then there was Brooklyn’s Northside. Festivals that mix both business and pleasure (or in this case, just about everything) are growing, and Alt 98.7’s Big Adventure Fest is the latest to combine seemingly incongruent niches for an all-in-one experience two absolutely packed days. Set to take place the weekend of November 3rd, fans can expect there never to be a dull moment in this Costa Mesa party, as in between live sets you can catch laugh at the comedy stage or participate in cosplay events. Or, if you’re more into EDM, Big Adventure has a dance stage where festival-goers can enjoy DJ sets from EDM giants What So Not and Rusko, as well as up-and-coming acts Party Theives and Nitti Gritty.

In its first year, this festival is gearing up to be promising. While small, the music lineup lends itself to an intimacy of sorts, and leaves time to experience everything else going on.

If there’s one huge selling point, it’s to see Empire of the Sun make their triumphant return to the stage after newfound success: their song, Walking on a Dream, was resurrected a decade later in a 2016 Honda commercial, and since then, their presence has skyrocketed.
