Manchester based duo Codex have released their glitchy new single Airport.
Fusing an eclectic range of influences, Codex organically blend warm, cerebral soundscapes with hypnotic electronic beats to create an atmospheric, brooding single. Opening with off-kilter analogue drum beats, Airport is intensified by the dream-like vocals of Shahriar Parast, the track menacingly building throughout, as Codex playfully experiment with textural sounds spanning influences from underground electronica to melodic pop.
Having first met at 11 years old, Shahriar Parast (vocals, multi-instrumentalist, production) and Adam Mayer (multi-instrumentalist, production) honed their craft playing in multiple bands throughout their teenage years. After completing their studies, the pair began performing on their local music scene, playing their first gig as a two-piece in 2018.
Over the years Codex have self-released and self-promoted their music to great effect having made the longlist of the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition, gaining airplay on BBC Radio and Amazing Radio as well as supporting Battles at Gorilla in Manchester in 2019.
Airport is out now.
