American musician Prince has died at the age of 57 at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota.
His publicist confirmed his death after police were informed of a fatality at his home. The hugely popular multi-instrumentalist and singer was rushed to hospital after performing on stage last week but was soon released.
Known for his hits Purple Rain, 1999 and When Doves Cry, Prince sold over 100 millions records and recorded 39 albums in a career that spanned more than 3 decades.
As well as his own hits, he wrote hundreds of songs for other artists and was due to release his memoirs in 2017.
An investigation is underway.
