Some may argue that Justin Vernon, the front man of indie band Bon Iver, appears naked without a guitar strapped around his neck or synth keys at his fingertips. But Vernon showcased a rare and upbeat vocal performance this past Saturday at Rock the Garden Festival in Minneapolis–endearing awkward drumming-dance included (see 2:28).
Vernon joined Prince’s band, The Revolution, to perform the late artist’s 1984 song “Erotic City”, the B-Side to “Let’s Go Crazy.” The band is wrapping up a memorial tour in honor of the music legend. They invited their fellow headliner to join them on stage for a special hometown tribute. Justin’s signature falsetto shines in this rendition, and The Revolution’s groove is as brilliant as ever.
