The Beatles are to release an expanded edition of their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. This reissue is to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the album on the 1st June this year.
It is not yet known what formats release will be available on, but it is to include two additional tracks. This edition will contain the double A side Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever, released as the lead single to the album. Both tracks were cut in the stages of the album’s recording sessions, and were intended for inclusion. These tracks were selected as the lead single and so were not included in the initial release.
This will be the first time a Beatles studio album is released with bonus tracks. At this stage it is unknown weather the album will be released in stereo, mono or both, and if they will be re-mastered or if the 2009 mixes will be used.
