Having featured in BBC Radio 1’s coveted ‘Next Wave’ slot earlier this year, ‘Oh Damn’ is a welcomed return for Bamily who continue to put their own irresistible stamp on indie influences such as Phoenix, Mac Demarco and Glass Animals, and follows the release of their debut EP ‘Family With A B’ earlier this year. New single ‘Oh Damn’ explores the notion that not everything goes to plan but to hold tight and know things will get better.
Speaking on the track, band-member Benjy said: “I wanted to write something about that feeling of being swallowed. That feeling of thinking you’re totally alone and like you don’t have anyone there for you. Hopefully this tune will let you know that everybody gets like that, maybe you’re not alone and sometimes you just gotta say oh damn and face everything being shit for a bit, dance in the rain and then it can get better.”
Brixton based Bamily are long-time friends Tim, Charlie, Louis, and Benjy. Naturally gifted performers with a unique and energetic live set up, the magnetic four-piece have been making music together for several years. With a strong DIY heavy ethos, the band cut their teeth throwing ‘Bamily Affair’ parties in small and intimate locations across the city, combining gig settings with club culture. Built for fans and friends of the group to party, the now infamous ‘Bamily Affair’ nights featured both live and DJ sets provided by Bamily, plus a range of guest DJs.
Fresh, fun and captivating, Bamily are every inch the modern indie prospect built for the instagram-age. With further music confirmed plus a debut headline show at London’s Corsica Studios on 5th November, if it’s upbeat indie built for the dancefloor you’re after, there should only be one name on your lips.
