Late last week, reclusive star Sia revealed the audio track for a new song, ‘Alive’. The powerfully delivered song will serve as the lead single from Sia‘s upcoming seventh studio album, ‘This Is Acting’. It is reportedly a collection of songs originally intended for other artists that were rejected, but little more is known about the album. ‘Alive’ was co-written with Adele and was initially planned for the singer’s much anticipated third studio album, but was rejected at the last minute. Sia has revealed that the track was also rejected by Rihanna, who sang the Sia-written hit ‘Diamonds’ in 2012. The track incorporates a very strong vocal performance that showcases Sia’s unique and powerful voice perfectly and suits her style well. In fact, it is hard to imagine someone else singing this song!
The artwork for the single is striking, drawing on Sia’s use of her trademark blonde bob. Known for her use of visuals in her music videos, fans will be excited to see whether dancer Maddie Zielger will return for this video, or whether Sia will take a new direction this time around. With the release of ‘Alive, hopefully Sia will soon reveal more about her follow up to her last album ‘1000 Forms of Fear’, that spawned the singles ‘Chandelier’, ‘Elastic Heart’ and ‘Big Girls Cry’. As the upbeat message of the song suggests, Sia is back in her element and hopefully ready to reveal more new music! Listen to the stunning new track above.
‘Alive’ is available now via Inertia, Monkey Puzzle and RCA Records.
