Fleet Foxes Robin Pecknold has promised a signed preview LP of the band’s upcoming album ‘Crack Up’ to 20 fans who frequently comment on his Instagram posts.
The band’s frontman, who has been updating his Instagram followers throughout the recording of the highly-anticipated album, posted a photo of an all-white vinyl on Sunday morning saying he’d like to send a copy to the lucky fans ‘around release week’. The album is due for release on 16th June.
Pecknold said: “You all are the 20 most frequent commenters on this page, and you’ve been really funny / kind / supportive through this whole process of writing, recording, and now releasing ‘Crack-Up’.
“As a way of expressing my gratitude for that, we’ve made 20 test pressings of the ‘Crack-Up’ 2x vinyl LP and all signed them; we’d like to send one your way around release week. This is the only way anyone anywhere could get this particular thing.
“So: DM me some physical addresses and thank you again ya lovable freaks 🙏🏼 and thank you to everybody else who checks in here as well – love you all!”
One of the lucky 20 @chey.peterson, commented: ‘I am so deeply honoured! You guys are seriously the greatest band. Big Love 💓 thank you @robinpecknold @christianwargo @skjelset @caseywescott Keep inspiring 🙌’
The album is the band’s third release, following the critically-acclaimed ‘Fleet Foxes’ in 2009 and ‘Helplessness Blues’ in 2011.
Pecknold has been sharing video clips of rehearsals and leaking excerpts from the upcoming record after a six-year break for the band, which saw Pecknold touring with Joanna Newsom and completing a music degree at Columbia University.
The five-piece have announced a US tour and will headline Latitude Festival on Saturday 16th July. You can preorder the album and see full tour dates here, or listen to the first single ‘Third of May / Ōdaigahara’
‘Crack-Up’ is out on Nonesuch Records on 16th June 2017.
