One of the few remaining bands from the Seattle grunge scene of the early 1990’s is apparently going to be spending some time working on a new album this year.
According to Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament the band plan on releasing some new material as early as next year.
The band needs “a good solid six to eight weeks carved out where we’re just recording all these ideas that we have,” Ament said.
The band are excited to hit the studio at some point “It’s going to be really good. There’s a lot to be inspired by and a lot to be pissed off about,” he said.
In terms of how much work the band needs to do once they hit the studio Ament says that right most of it will be going though ideas that they already have.

“We’ve written a ton, and it’s just going to be a matter of us sorting through that stuff. Fortunately and unfortunately, we have a bunch of shows coming up, so it isn’t going to happen anytime soon. We’ve been writing a ton. There’s a ton of song forms out there,” Ament said
The band have a lot of touring dates all set up for this year though so the odds of something coming out before the new year are slim.
It has been five years so far since the last album the band released when Lightning Bolt came out back in 2013.
The band haven’t been completely inactive since then though, earlier this year they released a politically charged single titled ‘Can’t deny me’ back in March.
