Paramore have released their first new song in four years, “Hard Times” along with a very colourful video.
The track is from their upcoming fifth album titled “After Laughter”, due out on 12th May through Fueled By Ramen. The album was recorded in their hometown of Nashville and produced by Justin Meldal-Johnson, who also worked on their last self-titled record.
This will be the first album with the band’s new lineup. Bassist Jeremy Davis left the band in 2015, and former drummer Zac Farro returned this year after leaving in 2010.
“Hard Times” is a bright, upbeat track with a funky feel. It’s clear the band have now fully departed from their old pop punk style and are embracing a poppier sound. Even the album artwork looks straight from the 80’s with loads of colour.
In a further surprise, Paramore have announced a six-date UK and Ireland tour for this June. Tickets go on sale at 9am next Friday 28th April.
