Mastodon have announced the release of their seventh studio album, titled ‘Emperor Of Sand’, on March 31st 2017.  Released via Reprise Records, the album is their follow up to 2014’s ‘Once More ‘Round The Sun’.  Members of the band have spent the intervening years starting supergroups Gone is Gone and Giraffe Tongue Orchestra with, amongst others, members of Alice In Chains, At The Drive In and Queens Of The Stone Age.

The announcement comes following days of humorous teasers on the bands social media accounts.  Each teaser video focused on a different band members preparations for the album, including bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders “Navy Seals style” motivational routine and guitarist/vocalist Brett Hinds explaining the logic behind recording the album’s solos “inside the moon”.  The band also released a clip of ‘Sultan’s Curse’ from the album.
