In an exciting announcement for classic rock fans, it has been revealed that former Guns ‘N’ Roses bandmates Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan are working together on a new album.
The pair recently recorded a single together entitled “How To Be A Man” along with Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains and Roy Mayorga of Stone Sour. The song revolves around a classic Stradlin acoustic blues riff combined with McKagan’s punky vocal style, and is the perfect way to whet your appetite for the upcoming album.
Whilst McKagan has been relatively active of late, recording and touring with ‘Walking Papers’ and ‘Kings of Chaos’ amongst other ventures, Stradlin’ has remained more or less under the radar since 2010’s Wave of Heat LP. The two have, however, at different points joined their former bandmate Axl Rose onstage; appearances which, as always, led to rumours of a classic-era GNR reunion. Whilst this remains, at best, unlikely, it seems that the McKagan-Stradlin pairing is one that could exist for some time, with Duff saying of Izzy “I really trust whatever he does…I’d like to do more music with him. For the rest of my life”.
