After 13 years of waiting Tool recently announced they are to release their fifth album Fear Inoculum. On Monday they revealed the album cover via social media, along with the news that the title track will be debuted on Wednesday.
Guitarist Adam Jones has reportedly told Guitar World that the album will clock in at around 80 minutes and will contain seven tracks, along with two transition pieces.
Jones also stated that the concept of the album revolves around the number seven but did not reveal whether ‘Invincible’ or ‘Descending’ (two new tracks they have been performing at shows) would be included on the album.
It has been quite a week for Tool fans as the band finally released their back catalog on streaming services. Within days all four of their albums and one EP entered the iTunes album download charts, with their third full-length release Lateralus reaching the top spot.
A number of Tool tracks also entered the iTunes songs chart, taking up five spots in the top ten at one point over the weekend. Their most popular tracks included the likes of ‘Schism’, ‘Forty Six & 2’, ‘Stinkfist’, ‘Ænima’ and ‘Vicarious’.
Fear Inoculum is scheduled for release on 30th August, with pre-orders for the album open from Wednesday 7th August.
