Beren Olivia is a multifaceted talent: she is a singer, songwriter, model and actress. She has strong credentials in all these areas. But creating music is her first love and passion. She releases her single ‘Black Magic’ – available now on all download and streaming platforms.

Beren grew up immersed in her mother’s love for poetry which sparked a passion for writing at a young age. After teaching herself guitar, this love for expression through storytelling developed into song writing and lyrics. Raised on artists such as P!nk, Christina Aguilera and Avril Lavigne, music always played a huge part in the family household. However, it wasn’t until one evening when the then 12-year-old sang Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ around the dinner table that the singer, and her family, discovered her voice.

After auditioning and being accepted into EDSA (Emil Dale School of Performing Arts) at age 14, Beren attended weekly classes of acting, singing and dance. This is also where she was scouted and was signed to the modelling agency Models Plus LTD. She went on to playing lead roles in showcases such as Fantine in Les Miserables, and getting modelling jobs in commercials for Nintendo and the ‘Young Minds Charity’. Incredible achievements for one so young. But although she was reaping great success in these fields, she was also determinedly continuing with her first love: making music.

It wasn’t too long before her song-writing and performance was noticed, via Instagram, by Grammy Nominated producer Scott Robinson (credits include Demi Lovato, Bebe Rexha, Christina Aguilera, Astrid S, Sabrina Carpenter etc). He flew Beren to LA for a 2-week writing/recording trip where she worked with big industry names such as Robinson himself, Captain Cuts and many others. This incredible experience became massively influential to her musical development. She drew on this and also her inspiration from modern day artists such as Post Malone, Halsey and Social House to finely tune her own authentic sound.

The new singleBlack Magic’ was written and recorded on her first trip to LA. It was only the second studio session she had ever had! The song is a dark pop track with catchy melodies and pretty vocals which contrasts with the bass-y production and overall edgy sound. Beren says: “Lyrically, the song was inspired by Nina Simone’s ‘I Put a Spell on You’, with the idea that a girl has cast a spell on a boy to make him fall in love with her.”

Beren Olivia’s talents shine through so brightly – there are no need for such spells. It would be hard not to fall in love with her and her music.
