Smashing Pumpkins front-man Billy Corgan has teased an update on the long-rumoured reunion of the band’s original line-up. The forty-nine-year-old singer and guitarist said ‘Things look good’ regarding a reunion tour in the summer of 2017.

If the reunion were to take place, it’d be the first time all four original members have played together since 2000. Though relations have been infamously strained between Corgan and his former band-mates, tensions appear to have eased in recent years. Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has been in and out of the Pumpkins line-up since the break-up, most recently in the 2015 tour, and original guitarist James Iha joined the current Pumpkins line-up on stage several times through 2016. Corgan also claims to be in contact with original bassist D’arcy Wretzky after sixteen years without speaking.
Commenting on the prospect of a reunion, Corgan said “There’s a willingness for us to play, but also the world’s changed a lot since we didn’t play. So the reunion thing is always a bit weird because people come in with their expectations. So my whole thing is if we’re gonna do it, I think we do it to make people happy and not go against the tide of what people would want to hear in that type of stuff.”
