Ashley McBryde is a Nashville based singer songwriter and Grammy Nominee. Her honest lyrics and passion for music have gained her fans across the world. We caught up with her ahead of her shows at the C2C festival in March
Welcome, hope you are well. Thanks for taking time to speak to us today.
What are you most looking forward to when you play at C2C?
The Fans!! Everyone is so nice and so engaging. I can’t wait to show off the C2C fans to my band mates, they won’t know what hit them with all that love coming at them at once!
What were you hoping to capture when you recorded your album ‘Girl Going Nowhere’
We’ve spent years on the road developing our sound as a band, so when we were making the record it was most important to give a really good snap shot of who we are and what our live show is like.
Five things you love about the UK include …..
1. The fans!
2. I’m not a big beer drinker but in the UK the beer is stellar!
3. The history. Everywhere you look is an amazing piece of history.
4. The accents of course! The most mesmerizing accents in the world are in the UK!
5. Tea. I grew up in a household that loves its “hot tea” so I always look forward to it when I head out there. With milk and sugar.
How did it feel to be nominated for Grammy? (What do you remember about the awards?)
It was humbling and exhilarating – what an honour to be a Grammy nominated artist!
The awards were so much fun. I sat behind Mr. Quincy Jones! We had a few good little chats throughout the night.
You will be supporting the legendary George Strait later this year, tell us the story of how that came about please.
When I found out, I was standing in my living room. My phone went off. It was a text from our touring manager at Q Prime. It simply stated “you just got 6 dates with George Strait IN VEGAS!!“
I shouted and dropped my phone in my friends lap and said “read that!”
