Take 5: Rana Rains

Rana Rains, because when it rains it pours! Blazing a trail of originality through house infused soul and club friendly music, Rana is a global artist – going where the music takes her. Her unique approach to music has been organically created by her rich experience working with people from all walks of life.

Inspired by the work of Sade, Candi Staton, Cher, Patti LaBelle, Nina Simone, and other soulful artists of the 60s and 70s, Rana’s career began 18 years ago in London, and evolved across 13 countries. She has worked with numerous artists, and adapted her sound till it resonated with her chakras. Well we HAD to find out more in our Take 5!

When did you realise that you wanted to be a performer? What or who has inspired you ?

Since I can Remember I’ve always wanted to sing. When I was 3, I was in Madrid with the parents and they left me with my older brother who at the time was 7 to babysit me whilst they went to the movies. When they returned to the hotel, we were no where to be found. My mom was frantic and in her way to the reception, she found a group of people in a circle and found me in the middle singing to them haha

Who, living or dead, would you dream of collaborating with?

I would have loved to work with Nina Simone amd Prince for sure. As for now, I love Erika Badu and most certainly Sade.

Tell us about your latest single ‘ Rhythm’– what is it about?

Rhythm is the heart, the oxygen, life. It’s a song about music , and music is the most powerful tool when used correctly and with a frequency of 432 .. love.

You are always travelling between Geneva, LA and London . Tell us five interesting things about this nomadic life of yours

1) different cultures which means different sound

2) incredibly talented artists Of all cultures, colors and genres

3) I learned to deal with all types of people and see how we are all similar and want the same thing. To share our talent with the world to make it a better one

4) I grew and evolved on a much deeper scale understanding different mentalities

5) last but not least .. languages. I speak five. Should have learned more. In fact , the Intention is there

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I’ve worked so hard for the last 19 years.. it’s my turn. I want to share my music and my energy with the world And Spread the Energy
