Electronic producer Dobie is due to release his new feel-good electro-pop track L.O.V.E ft Myra Bro on the 1st of October 2020. Ahead of the release GIGsoup caught up with Dobie to talk about the track further.
So, what’s up Dobie? What’s on your mind right now?
Everything is up, nothing is hanging, that’s the most important thing 😀
I’m just thinking when will Millwall F.C. win the cup. 😀
I’m currently working on four new songs, so it’s busy, but it’s fun.
Tell us everything about your new single ‘L.O.V.E’ and your collaboration with Myra Bro.
I made the main song lead at the beginning of the 90s, and now the right time has come to make the full track. I met Myra Bro through a mutual Facebook friend from Belgium (Fabrique Belgique), soon we had the first collaboration on my trance track “Dublin Rain”, after that we made a few more songs along with L.O.V.E. The song was produced in my studio in Zagreb by mini-me, Myra Bro’s voice was recorded in Rotterdam in Brad Grobelr’s studio. The recording session was quick and easy cause Myra Bro is a very talented and professional artist. After the session we had an amazing time in Rotterdam.
When did you start writing music and singing?
Since I come from a musical family, I have been interested in music since I was a child, especially electronic music, which influenced my musical development. Playing the piano (or keyboards) for me was a relaxation, an escape, and a journey into some world of mine, my cloud.
Really liked your music video. Talk a bit more about it and the reason why you are not at the video.
It’s not about me, it’s about music and love as a universal power. The main idea for the video, the same as for the song was that love knows no bounds and it’s not limited by age, it’s lifetime feeling and drive. Love is simple when you love somebody.
Which animal would best suit your personality?
My artist’s name is Dobie, cause I am a proud owner of a Doberman, it’s a fascinating dog. I have no fear, I protect my own, I am emotional, faithful, sometimes stubborn.
Who are your musical icons?
I grew up listening to electronic music so I have a big list of artists (producers) that have an impact on me, like Jean Michael Jarre, Kraftwerk, Robert Miles, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Ultravox, Trevor Horn, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, DeadMau5, Kirill … but also good old fuga “trancer” Johann Sebastian Bach, minimalists like Terry Riley, Philip Glass, Ludovico Einaudi …
What was the first album you purchased?
It was “Please” from Pet Shop Boys in 1986.
Which artists are you listening to right now?
Right now I’m listening to music from Ludovico Einaudi, in particular, the song “Una Mattina”, because I am working on a trance remix of “Una Mattina” and I want to convey that emotion in trance remix. The song has amazing emotion and simplicity, a true minimalist masterpiece that has nothing to do with today’s notion of minimalism in electronic music.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Casual, elegant, suits for business meetings, court, weddings, and funerals 😀
What does the rest of 2020 hold for you?
I have lots of projects in progress with other artists like Xavier Clayton (he wrote “The World is Mine” with David Guetta, “Tribal Dance” for 2Unlimited, Armada, for Hollywood movies etc), with Dutch house producer Brutu Music. Also, I have band Universal Flow with my friend producer Trento, so the rest of the year will not be boring. Also, I hope the cessation of social engineering called “plandemic” Covid-19, to return to normal life and live performances.
