Romanian Pop-Rock band PUBLIKA have just released their new single ‘Falling’, GIGsoup caught up with Jon from the band to discuss the track in more detail.

So, what’s up PUBLIKA? What’s on your mind right now?

Staying alert and not Falling 🙂

Tell us everything about your new single ‘Falling’.

We are so excited about our new single, I think we couldn’t sleep well for a week… We are so lucky to release Falling (including the video) in this difficult moment, it was strange to film in these conditions and to wear the mask with all make-up and stuff but we think the video is going well and we are proud of it. ‘Falling’ is about hope, love hurt, and how we all need to rise again.

When did you start writing music and singing?

A long time ago….”You started to sing since you were born” this is what my mom said. 🙂 I also learned to write music because for me it is more natural to sing but I could express myself easily in this way.

What’s the role of Romanian Pop-Rock music in your sound?

We think that Romania has a good taste and quality in music and we like to mix sounds and messages in our songs. Really liked your music video. Talk a bit more about it. Thank you so much, it was strange for us at this moment to make the video, but we did well. The video is filmed in two countries, Romania and the UK. Because of coronavirus, we had to improvise therefore some of the shots were recorded in my backyard, here in the UK. All the scenes that you see on stage were captured during our concerts and we had to adapt to the new script. We changed a little bit the concept and this video is making a difference from the other videos we released.

Which animal would best suit your personality?

Wolf – free, wild and powerful, trusting his instincts

Who are your musical icons?

My musical icons: Simple Minds, Keane, Depeche Mode, Hurts, Muse.

What was the first album you purchased?

I bought my first album in 1991: Lisa Stansfield – Real Love

Which artists are you listening to right now?

Currently, I listen to James Bay, The 1975.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I am passionate about fashion and my style is always inspired by the music I listen to. I like to combine the 90’s rock style with the unleashed freedom of actual fashion. I believe that artists can influence the fashion industry with a little bit of good taste and unicity.

What does the rest of 2020 hold for you?

2020 Started already with a big achievement, launching ‘Falling’ here in the UK. I am dreaming of a big concert where we can perform and the world to be back to a kind of normality that we used to know. Also, we are working in the studio for our next material and hopefully, it will be ready soon.
