INTERVIEW: Nathassia

London based / Dutch born electronic artist Nathassia has recently released, ‘Change The World’ – a collaboration with D3FAI. One of Argentina’s hottest emerging producers, who has been making big waves with support from the likes of Tiësto, Afrojack, David Guetta & Steve Aoki.

Nathassia (pronounced Natasha) through her own unique & spellbinding style, has gone onto forge a path to global success. A featured artist on UK radio & live on Dutch national radio, with the likes of Soulcast & Moonbeam – her recent releases have also picked up firm support from Blasterjaxx, Andi Durrant & BL3ND.

We caught up with Nathassia to discuss her recent collaboration with D3FAI, upcoming releases & future plans for 2020!

Hey Nathassia, thanks for joining us today. Can you introduce yourself & tell us a bit about what you’ve been up to so far this year?

Hiya, thanks for having me! I’m Nathassia – a 1.8 metres tall, half dutch, half Indian, electronic music artist!

I’ve been busier than ever during lockdown which is something I would’ve never believed! I have been live-streaming to my fans from my Boudoir and because I haven’t been able to do my usual band gigs/livestreams, I decided to launch my first podcast ‘Goddess Is DJ’ and perform it live/livestream it.

Congrats on your new single with D3FAI, ‘Change The World’ – What was the inspiration/meaning behind this track?

Thank you! The song feels strangely prophetic as I wrote the lyrics before the current world changing events had happened. It feels like there has never been a better time to change the world.

It’s the first time you’ve collaborated with D3FAI, how did this come about & what was the production approach, given our current times?

I was introduced to D3FAI by Tony Byrne from Singleminded promotions following a meeting with him at ADE last year. D3FAI is based in Argentina so we worked remotely on the track in a constant “back and forward” process. I was supposed to fly to Argentina so we could to shoot the video together but unfortunately that was cancelled because of the virus. Instead a cool animated video was produced with Tony.
We have all been pleasantly surprised that the video has been playlisted on Club MTV, MTV Dance International and Clubland TV since April. It is currently in the Club MTV top 20.

How long have you been deeply rooted in the music industry & what’s the most rewarding thing about being an artist?

It’s been about five years professionally but forever as far as I can remember, the most rewarding thing to me is being able to constantly connect emotionally with so many lovely people all around the world through my music.

What has been one of the best shows you’ve attended / performed at & what made it so special?

The most exciting so far was when I was asked to perform at the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. It was the first time in history that live music was allowed and to perform in front of one of the wonders of the world was breathtaking and incredible. I also got to meet the princess of Egypt!

Summer 2020 is fast approaching, can you share any upcoming music or plans for the season?

I am working on a follow up with D3FAI, plus my next release is The Edge with Yence505 out in July. I am excited about the debut of my Goddess Is A DJ mix on DI.FM with GAR this month. Plus… I am due to shoot two music videos in July/Aug!

And finally, what goals and objectives are you excited about looking further into 2020 & beyond?

I’m really looking forward to the return of live music and music festivals, I am booked to perform live at Lollapalooza Festival Argentina with D3FAI which has now been postponed to November, fingers crossed!
