Dot to Dot festival takes place this May, with artists flying in from all over the world to perform in Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham. One of these is Australian born, Berlin based Parcels. Having released their EP ‘Hideout’ in January and a tour with Two Door Cinema Club ticked off the list, it’s no wonder the five piece are set for huge things this year.
Fusing electro pop, with funky, groovy soul; Parcels are without doubt an act you do not to miss at this years festival. They recently took the time to become the first act on the bill to chat with GIGsoup for Tara Atkinson’s ‘In Their Own Words’ series about Dot To Dot, Tokyo and their excitement to play outside of London.
Have you played D2D before and how are you feeling about performing there?
This will be our first time at Dot to Dot. We’re excited, we haven’t played outside of London in the UK yet, travelling around England will be a new experience for us. We’ve heard good things about the festival too.

Which city are you most looking forward to playing? (Manchester, Bristol, Nottingham)
We really have no idea about the cities, we can give you a run down after perhaps. Though, some friends said Nottingham are a super vibing crowd.
From the initial line up, who are you most excited to see?
The Growlers. It’s cool, and we used to listen to it back when we were surf rats. It will be a nice hit of nostalgia for drives on the coastline.
You’ve just finished touring Europe with Two Door Cinema Club, how was that?
It was pretty amazing. We had never played in front of that many people before, had never really done the whole proper tour thing of getting up every morning with a new show to play. We loved it. The crowds were really supportive too, they were happy to get into it even though we were the first band. Blessings to them. It was a solid three weeks of 9 people sleeping in a small bus/van type vehicle. Had a ball.
If you had to choose one city to stay in for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Tokyo. We had three days there on our way back to Berlin from Australia, and it was the wildest, coolest place we’ve seen. Definitely keen to spend more time there.
What can we expect from you in the next few months?
Heaps of shows, new tunes.
Why should fans make the effort to catch your set?
Don’t make too much of an effort, nothing drastic. Don’t fly in from Venezuela, or leave your kids unattended. But we have fun, you probably will too.
