Historically as soon as you hear the phrase ‘female two piece’ your mind goes either to the bikini selection at River Island or to one of a number of underwhelming ‘mother – daughter’ duets on the X Factor, REWS are here to change that. With an Irish singer songwriter and an English drummer they may well redefine what you can to with a two piece. They create a lot of noise for two members of the ‘weaker sex’, we were intrigued so had a quiet word before they play at Amy Winehouse’s old local for Camden Rocks in June.
When did your relationship with Camden start?
Collette – For me it would have been when I was little. My mum and dad took me there and we explored the food markets and clothes markets and it was like a little creative labyrinth!
Shauna – I found myself lost in Camden Market Stables looking at all the leather bound books, handmade clothing, bags and was interested in all the spiritual healing / massage stuff… I then stumbled upon the canals…. then I felt a sense that this was a place I belong in and thats the beginning of our love story. <3

Have you played in Camden before?
Yes! We’ve previously played at The Monarch and Our Black Heart. There are so many amazing venues in Camden, and we especially love having a mosh in places like Underworld! We can’t wait to play Camden Rocks!!
What was your reaction when you knew you would be playing there this year?
We were super excited as we were dying to play last year!
From the announcement of bands so far who are you looking forward to seeing and who would you hope may yet make it on?
Obviously we are looking forward to supporting some of the other bands on our label (Marshall Records – GIGsoup) such as Reigning Days and The Dirty Youth!
Collette – Personally I’m looking forward to seeing The Coral, Yonaka and Emp!re. I would love to see Vukovi on the bill!
Shauna – I agree with Emp!re! Collette turned me on to them a few weeks ago! But I’m also really looking forward to seeing Massmatiks, Asylum & M O S E S!!
Have you been to Camden Market, what did you buy?
Collette – Yes, many a time!! Bought the world…haha! everything from clothes, bags, lots and lots of food and also henna tattoos!
Shauna – Love Camden Market – generally I love to walk around & be tempted by everything… but occasionally I buy clothes… and loads of food too!!!!
Which Camden venue is the best to play at?
With it’s sticky floors, unisex toilets and great character we’ve agreed….Our Black Heart was our favourite venue to play so far! We would love to play at Koko in the future!!
Did you know that The Worlds End pub was built on the site of a witch’s house, directly opposite the local gibbet, do you know any Camden trivia?
No way!! We didn’t, but that’s a really cool fact!! The only other thing we could remember trivia wise was that The Hawley Arms was Amy Winehouse’s local.
Why should I as a gig goer make an effort to see you guys at Camden this year?
Because we’re gonna tear it a new one!! Haha! but seriously, everyone is gonna have a lot of fun dancing, getting lost in the music and getting to listen to our amazing stage banter!! Come see us at The Hawley Arms x
