LIINES are a post punk /grunge band, they have for the last decade, been a female three piece, however recently there has been a personell change and Camden Rocks Festival will be an early chance to show off the new member’s talent. We spoke to the remaining two about the festival and the area.
When did your relationship with Camden start?
Leila: I’m originally from London so I was often going to Camden hanging out at the markets as well as going to awesome places like Electric Ballroom! I live in Manchester now, but it’s always great to get back to Camden as it’s got a special feel about it, especially in summer. Really excited to get the chance to hang out there as a band for Camden Rocks!
Have you played in Camden before?
Leila: We played at Our Black Heart last March for one of our single tours. It was a really ace venue. I just remember it being insanely hot and sweaty – EXACTLY the sort of gig we love!

What was your reaction when you knew you would be playing there this year?
Zoe: We were so thrilled when we heard we’d been asked to play. It’s such a big UK festival and we can’t wait to introduce LIINES to to the Camden Rocks crowd!
From the announcement of bands so far who are you looking forward to seeing and who would you hope may yet make it on?
Zoe: We are really excited to be seeing our friends Berries. I am also hoping to see The Damned. My Dad played New Rose to me when I was little and I was absolutely obsessed with it.
Have you been to Camden Market, what did you buy?
Zoe: I always go for the food – it’s ace!
Which Camden venue is the best to play at?
Leila: We’ve only played Our Black Heart, which takes some beating, But can’t wait to add to that list!
Camden Starbucks used to be the Lock-keeper’s lodge, do you know any Camden trivia?
Zoe: Not really ‘trivia’ but my mum and dad were punks and they used to come to London a lot for the punk scene which was predominantly in Camden so Camden is special to me because it gave my Mum and Dad a place to go to feel included and part of a scene. A scene which was so creative and exciting where music and fashion were thriving.
Why should I as a gig goer make an effort to see you guys at Camden this year?
Zoe: With LIINES you’ll get one of hell of an intense 30 minute set. We get a great response from our gigs and festival sets and I think it’s because we leave nothing behind – we play like our lives depend on it.
