Scottish indie-poppers Model Aeroplanes have unveiled a video for their new single ‘Whatever Dress Suits You Better’.
With a distinctly DIY feel, the video takes inspiration from old shows such as Top of the Pops and The Word, showing the band perform the single in front of vintage, kaleidoscopic visuals before it is revealed that their instruments are ironically unplugged. They said, ‘We came up with the idea within the band and then shot, directed and produced it ourselves. It really gave us the creative freedom we wanted to show the band playing live, but not playing live. In a fun way none of the instruments were plugged in and this is all really apparent’.
‘Whatever Dress Suits You Better’ comes from the band’s debut EP ‘Something Like Heaven’ which was released earlier this year on Island Records. It gained great reviews around the UK with GIGsoup writer Jamie Muir describing it as “captivating and infectious in equal measure’ and ‘a pinpoint mark for the future Model Aeroplanes are destined to have”. The new single, which is to be released as a digital download on Friday 8th July, is a fans’ favourite from the EP, thanks to its pounding percussion and colourful guitar rhythms. A truly addictive song made for summer.
