Four magnificent nights of music performances in the castle grounds from Jools Holland, The Libertines, The Jacksons & UB40.
AGMP are pleased to present Jools Holland, The Libertines, The Jacksons and UB40, with supporting acts to be announced at this years castle events.
Set in stunning gardens, the English Heritage property will be once again opening its doors to an entirely different kind of invasion this Summer. Hundreds of delighted music lovers, are set to invade the pretty cathedral town of Rochester, for a series of four concerts on 8th to 11th July with some of the UK and Americas biggest names performing in the castle grounds.
This year Rochester Castle Concerts will be operated for the first time by established concert & festival promoters AGMP, who launched the London based Innervisions Festival in 2018 and have historically promoted tours for a huge array of A List artists, such as; Prince, James Brown, Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, Van Morrison, Faithless, George Clinton and so many more.
Wednesday 8th July 2020 – Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra feat. Gilson Lavis with special guest Eddi Reader and guest vocalists Ruby Turner & Louise Marshall.
Jools Holland OBE was an original member of the band Squeeze, who had 12 UK Top 40 hits including; ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Up The Junction’ & ‘Labelled with Love’. An English pianist, bandleader, singer, composer and television presenter, he hosts ‘Later with Jools Holland’ on BBC2 which is one of the few remaining music shows on British Television. He also hosts his own show on Radio 2 and the annual ‘Hootenanny’ which is both live & televised every year on NYE.
Thursday 9th July 2020 – The Libertines
One of the Millennia’s greatest rock n roll bands, the full line up including Pete Doherty and Carl Barat will be performing songs new and old, including favourites such as; ‘Don’t Look Back into The Sun’, ‘Can’t Stand Me Now ‘and ‘The Likely Lads’.
Friday 10th July 2020 – The Jacksons
Tito Jackson, Marlon Jackson & Jackie Jackson were in one of the most famous bands in the world, with brothers Michael & Jermaine. Bringing the US Disco sound to the UK, The Jackson 5 grooved into the charts with hit after hit, still populating club dance floors today. The Jacksons (Tito, Marlon & Jackie) will be performing everyone’s favourite songs from 70’s hits ‘Show Me The Way To Go’, ‘Blame It On The Boogie’ & ‘Shake Your Body’ to 80’s chart toppers ‘Can You Feel It’ & ‘Walk Right Now’
Saturday 11th July 2020 – UB40
Formed in Birmingham in 1978, UB40 named themselves after the UK government’s unemployment benefit form. Their debut album ‘Signing Off’ was released in August 1980 and is considered by many to be one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band. It was the start of a career that led to 100 million record sales worldwide, forty UK Top 40 hits – including three Number 1s (‘Red, Red Wine’, ‘I Got You Babe ft. Chrissie Hynde’ and ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love with You’) – and a run of hit albums that have spent a combined period of eleven years in the UK’s Top 75 album chart, establishing UB40 as one of Britain’s most successful bands of all-time. UB40 are founding members Robin Campbell, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer, Norman Hassan and long-time members Duncan Campbell (vocals), Martin Meredith, Laurence Parry, Tony Mullings.
