With only a few weeks into 2017 fans of 80’s glam metal have already been given something truly special, a newly founded glam slam festival aptly named Hair Metal Heaven.
It seems the UK is finally answering die hard fans of the genres’ wishes. With a multitude of these niche festivals now residing across the UK; Rockmantic, Rockingham, Hard Rock Hell & Steelhouse there’s now opportunity for fans hailing from the North to get that hot tub time machine injection back to the 80’s.
Only a few months ago the festival was leaked to the masses, the titled that boasted ‘Hair Metal Heaven’ to take place in Hull, UK of all places. Ian Wright, owner of Rocket Ride Entertainment is the man with the plan, has assembled a mouth watering troupe of bands, many who didn’t visit these shores in their prime.

After the initial astounding announcement featuring a handful of bands who may have gone under the radar for many back in the day, nevertheless possess a die-hard cult following. Favourites such as: Smashed Gladys; Leatherwolf; Princess Pang; Treat; Spread Eagle; DAD and Canadian newcomers Diemonds seemingly an impossible task to better the existing line up.
Hull’s glam extravaganza has announced a new batch of bands to the seemingly untouchable current line up.
The latest announcement proves they have truly outdone themselves, with the addition of San Francisco’s Vain. One of the few bands who have soldiered through the thick and thin, with front man Davy Vain carrying the torch to keep the name alive.
New York City’s Circus Of Power, a moderately more straight up, ballsier rock n roll band who rose to notoriety with their 1988 debut.
A band that were destined for the big time at the time of their debut dropping, is the fan favourite, and requested by many on the festival’s Facebook page, Wildside. With 1992’s Under The Influence being in the majority of diehard glam fans’ top 10 albums it’s surely a dream come true for many.
As well as three modern bands thrown in for good measure; Eclipse a modern melodic rock 4 piece hailing from Stockholm, Sweden.
Bigfoot; a British hard rock 5 piece from Wigan who’ve been relentlessly touring the country everywhere and anywhere.
Lastly, Killcode; another New York City spawn, straight up no frills rock n roll fresh off tour with the likes of Twisted Sister.
All the bands will sure add more dimensions to the already phenomenal line up. Rounding off the announcement is the first headliner, Norway’s very own recently reformed TNT. 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of their 1987 release Tell No Tales which they’re embarking on a world tour to celebrate. For a debut festival in Hull, UK founder and organiser Wright is truly pulling out all the stops, with each announcement proving to better the precedent. Ultimately there’s hope for a UK equivalent of the M3 festival in America.
The extravaganza will take place at the City Hall, Hull on 26th & 27th August with a pre-party at O’Rileys on the 25th. There will also be a Hair Metal Heaven Hall of Fame, VIP Market and VIP after-show lounge.
