Damon Albarn joins Bobby Womack at Glastonbury

After helping Womack with his 2012 album “The Bravest Man in the World” the favour was yesterday returned as Albarn was  invited to join proceedings at the 2013 Glastonbury Festival.

The Blur front-man played the piano on a host of songs from the album and added vocals to the track “Love Is Gonna Lift You Up”.

Womack thanked Albarn for his cameo, telling the crowd, “Damon Albarn … the bravest man in the universe.”

A leather clad Womack had earlier told the crowd at the West Holts Stage “You’re in luck tonight …you’re getting two Bobby Womacks!” The first half of the set was the mellow Albarn set and then he marched off stage while the band changed (which took almost 30 minutes) to then re-appear for a foot stomping second half that contained many of the classics from “110th Street” to “Harry Hippie”
