Boston Calling Music Festival has released the lineup for their 2017 edition, taking place May 26-28th at Harvard Athletic Complex. Named as a reference to the phrase “London Calling…,” used to introduce BBC radio broadcasts during World War 2, the festival debuted in May of 2013 but has already hosted a staggering 7 events.
As they opted for a “twice a year” format at their conception, Boston Calling placed two festivals in a calendar year for the past three years: one in May and one in September. Sadly, they’ve decided to change the format and shrunken to only one festival per year, but the quality of the line up definitely hasn’t suffered because of it.

Previous performers at the festival include Kendrick Lamar, Sia, Beck, Passion Pit, Vampire Weekend, Disclosure, Of Monsters and Men, and Fun., and the lineup for 2017 follows in the footsteps of the past and includes many more large groups and artists alongside some up and comers.
This year, key performers include Mumford and Sons, Chance the Rapper, Bon Iver, the XX, Major Lazer, The 1975, Flatbush Zombies, Mac Demarco, Danny Brown, Francis and the Lights and Majid Jordan alongside plenty of other acts.
Also included in the lineup poster is a line reading “A Film Experience Curated by Natalie Portman,” so if the music wasn’t enough already, maybe she, and the idea of a film experience at a music festival, can shift your interest.
