There are comebacks and then there are great comebacks, and this one is of gargantuan proportions. Back in 2013 London based band ‘Mt. Wolf’ were on the cusp of greatness. They were play-list friendly with most radio stations (including Radio 1, XFM & 6Music) and had accumulated an incredible 1 million plays on their SoundCloud account. But then after a packed out Heaven headline gig the band was to fall apart.
Lead singer ‘Kate Sproule’ decided to leave the band and that was that, chaos and an apparent lack of direction ensued and ‘Mt. Wolf’ were no more. Or so we thought.
After going their separate ways, and disappearing from the scene altogether in 2014, messrs’ Fox, McMinn and Mitchell decided 2015 would be a good point to pick up where they left off. And so, we are today greeted with the news that the ‘Red EP’ is on its way (April 13th 2015) and in advance of that we have been given new track ‘VIII’ which features the quite incredible locals of Alexa Harley
‘VIII’ showcases a band very much back where they should be. This quite beautiful release cleverly uses electronica and stunning guitar to present a track that is light and effortless. Take some time out to indulge in these 4 minutes 32 seconds of absolute bliss.
Oh, and there’s more. You can see the band play a live headline show at London’s Cecil Sharp House on the 15th April 2015. Let’s hope this one is memorable for an altogether different reason.
