This ‘Artist of the Week’ interview was written by Bee Adamic (New Music Editor at GIGsoup)
‘Lua Sonique’ are a three piece alternative electronic outfit from South East London. Consisting of three members Alex, Jordan And Sam. Alex a talented multi-instrumentalist and producer. Alex’s guitars and bass can be heard all the way through the song whilst Jordan brings a touch of soul to the project.
New single Searching is a profoundly hazy track, that oozes sex appeal, whilst at the same time remaining tasteful and interesting to listen to do. The experimentation in the vocal effects create a dreamy landscape, and the minimalist drums really make it drive.

We caught up with the trio Lua Sonique, to find out about what they were up to at the moment:
1.Talk us through your song writing process.
Our writing process normally starts when one of us has an idea and presents it to the others. if we all can see potential in the idea we run with it, and the song forms naturally. All of us are always coming up with new ideas so we are songwriting constantly.
2.What would be your dream collaboration
We all would love to work with a huge orchestra.
3.The name of your band, where’s it from?
Lua Sonique comes from two different languages. These words had a certain vibe to it so when we saw the name on paper we instantly envisioned our music with that name.
4.We absolutely love Searching, what was the inspiration behind this track?
Searching is about the conversations you have with your inner self as a relationship begins to breakdown, and the point where you begin to wonder if it is better to be apart.
5.So what’s next then for Lua Sonique?
We are currently in the process of preparing our live show which we are all really looking forward to. We are also working on a EP!
6.You all claim to have very different musical tastes, who are you digging right now.
We are all really feeling the new Jamie XX material! Loud Places is such a banger!
7.How important is the visual aspect in supporting your music, i.e through the use of video, artwork etc…. who decides this?
We want our music to be accompanied by visuals that enhance the listeners experience. So visuals are very important to us. We all discuss ideas and concepts and decide whats right for the piece.
8.If you weren’t in Lua Sonique what else would you be doing?
We would all still be pursuing music. But would each be in vastly different projects, which would be a shame as we creatively work so well together.
