This ‘Wild – Track of the Day’ article was written by Sarah Ebockayuk – Track of the Day Editor
WILD are the newest member of the Danger Village family and the LA-based three piece have recently dropped single ‘Back To You’ – which is without doubt one of the catchiest tracks we’ve heard at GIGsoup this year.
This indie-pop trio are due to release their album later this year and kick off a US tour in February. As well as awarding ‘Back To You’ the GIGsoup Track of the Day accolade we also caught up with the band and chatted about their plans for 2016…
You are the newest member of the Danger Village family! What made you join the group?
We were looking for someone who was as passionate about the music as we are. We had an instant connection with Beth and we all decided unanimously that working with her and Danger Village was the best move for the band.
How did you guys meet? How did you decide on your musical style? Are there any notable influences?
We were all included in a writing session back in April 2015, and we just kept writing from that point forward. We knew we had a connection and one day Kristina said, “Let’s make this a band!” For the style, that’s just what came to us naturally. We just get in a room together and see what comes of it. I’d say we get a lot of influence from Sigur Ros, John Mayer and T-Swift
You have dates to tour the U.S. – any plans to tour the UK?
We can’t wait for the day that we play overseas. Right now we’re just focussing on building out fan base day by day.
Does WILD reflect your personalities? If so, who is the wildest out of you three?
Definitely Kristina. Just come to a show and you’ll see what i’m talking about. She’s also been known to cause trouble in Ubers.
Your video for the single is due to be released soon! What was the idea behind the song and the video?
I think ‘Back To You’ has a different meaning for everyone who listens to it. The song really is about not giving up on something if you want it. It’s funny, we’ve had a few people reach out to us and ask us f we were a Christian rock band. It’s cool that the song can have an impact on such a wide array of people
Your track has had noticeable remixes uploaded and positive press? Would you consider branching out to other genres?
For sure! We don’t want to lock ourselves into any specific genre. Our songs are kind of all over the board as far as genre goes, and as we release more of our tracks you’ll start to see that.
Where would you like to see yourselves musically in 2016?
Well, we’re always trying to up our game with every track that we produce, and there’s always room for improvement. We plan to have a whole new record, a US tour and a larger audience in 2016
