As the year draws to it’s conclusion one starts reviewing and considering their tracks of the year. My mind was certainly made up, which i guess is a little unfair considering there are still 6 weeks until we tip our hat to 2015. However, Speelburg (aka Noah Sacré) and his release ‘Kline’ has certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons with, what i believe to be, one of the strongest debuts for many a year.
As a Brighton resident, who originally hailed from France, Belgium and the US, Speelburg is currently more famous for his production skills than that of up and coming musician. However, with this release it would seem to appear we have somewhat of a multi-talented individual on our hands.
Today’s Track of the Day ‘Kline’ offers an a sense of calmness and ambience that is occasionally pierced with lyrics that contain an altogether different swagger. The introduction of horns and an hypnotic beat never overwhelm the track and are used sparingly. It’s a sultry number that makes you feel 2 feet taller when listened to at full volume. Addictive doesn’t even come close to describing this release.
I would suggest Vincent-McMorrow and Blake are looking nervously over their respective shoulders.
