While Australia may not be that well known for their contributions to funk and disco that could be about to change. Today’s GIGsoup Track of the Day oozes a funk melody that is as addictive as chocolate coated cheese sprinkled with popping candy. ‘Stay the Same’ makes it impossible for one to keep any of their lower body still for more than a second. It’s 80’s funk surrounded by smart indie wrapper.

Sydney’s James Laurence and Andrew Knox (aka Huon Kind) have managed to create a sound with a hook so addictive it really should come with a health warming. It’s glorious hip twisting, foot tapping funk that could have come directly from an 80’s cop drama.

We can only hope and pray that this homage to all things 80’s lands on European shores at some point in 2015. In the meantime enjoy ‘Stay The Same’;  and in the name of funk “spread the word”.
