There seems to be a real buzz around ‘Hooton Tennis Club’. A recent NME ‘Band of the Week’ accolade and a host of forthcoming live dates have propelled these Wirral newcomers to the forefront of their genre. And if life couldn’t get any better the band are today’s recipients of the ‘GIGsoup Track of the Day’ honour, with the wonderfully titled ‘Kathleen sits on the arm of her favourite chair’.
Signed to the impressive ‘Heavenly Records’ after only three live gigs, the band have been announced as one of the performers on this years ‘William Green’ stage at Glastonbury – as part of the Heavenly Records 25th birthday celebrations. They’ll be sharing the stage with indie stalwarts ‘TOY’, ‘King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’ and ‘The Voyeurs’.
The aforementioned track is taken from the bands forthcoming LP (out later this year) which was produced by The Coral’s ‘Bill Ryder Jones’. It contains beautiful hooks and melodies that will no-doubt bring the track to the attention of many a radio station. There’s a real surf feel to it that just seems right for this time of year and has a likability that is just impossible to shake.
