Not a bad day for London band Coves. First they find they’ve been picked to support the magnificent St. Vincent on her upcoming UK and European tour and then they’re awarded with the prestigious ‘Track of the Day’ accolade from us folks at GIGsoup for ‘Wake Up’.
Coves released their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Soft Friday’ in March and Track of the Day ‘Wake Up’ is the rousing finale from the LP. On the back of the LP’s release the band played a packed out show at London’s Koko back in June and then spent the summer taking their shimmering stage show to rapturous festival crowds up and down the UK.

Over the last 18 months, Coves have won firm support from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Nick Grimshaw, 6Music’s Lauren Laverne, Don Letts and Radcliffe and Maconie and XFM’s John Kennedy, to name but a few. Their scuzzy cover of Chris Isaak’s haunting classic ‘Wicked Game’ peaked at No. 1 on the Hype Machine last year and has since been used to advertise ‘The White Queen’ drama series across BBC’s networks.
Coves will release new single ‘Wake Up’ on 13th October.
