Sheffield based four-piece indie rockers ‘The Sherlocks’ are well deserving as our latest ‘Track of the Day’ accolade. Their current single ‘Last Night’ is a wonderful heady mix of indie-rock coupled with a quite infectious chorus – also with a brief nod back to early ‘Courteeners’ thrown in for good measure. The band consists of two sets of brothers who crossed paths when they bonded over football and music. They have cited their mutual appreciation and influences of bands such as The Artic Monkeys, Oasis and The Beatles.
Only forming in 2010 they have already sparked impressive achievements within the industry – selling out over 300 venues thus far, supporting bands such as The Enemy and The Buzzcocks and currently supporting The Libertines on the Northern leg of their UK tour.
‘Last Night’ follows the success of their debut single ‘Live for the Moment’ which peaked at number 91 in Official UK Singles Chart, while their second single, ‘Escapade’, hit the charts at number 45. So what is next for the band? And why The Sherlocks as a name? GIGsoup endeavoured to find out…
